Several ports opted for not allowing the use of open loop scrubbers and day by day list of such ports is increasing, which mean that our scrubber fitted vessels will have to switch fuel from the less costly 3.5% to the more costly 0.1% when entering their territorial waters. This requires flushing the existing fuel system/pipes with very high amount of low sulphur oil of 0.1% Sulphur per switch. With slight modifying the fuel systems/pipes/automation we can reduce the flushing amount significantly and thus saving on the delta price between the two fuel types. Under this project, instead of using traditional dilution method for fuel changeover we will use the push method to drive the HFO back into the HFO Settling tank. The technical concept is to reduce the changeover time and amount of low sulphur fuel by automatically controlled flushing of the fuel system which consist of automatic controlled 3- way valve and logic box to control on important parameter like temperature fall gradient, input of fuel quantity from flowmeters etc. and divert the return fuel directly to HFO Settling tank instead of circulating back in circuit. In very short the project basically requires small change in Fuel piping, installation of automatic 3-way valve and a logic box with HMI.
